On an idyllic morning for cricket the Earlswood U13 CHL pairs team produced the best performance of the season to claim what was in the end a comfortable victory.

After winning the toss captain for the day James Taylor politely asked to bowl first.

The opening pair for Bidford batting sensibly and went about adding 22 runs for the first pair with the loss of only one wicket.

He second pair also went about batting but were restricted by tight bowling of Max Burke and James Taylor, a run out on the final over restricted the score to 230 after 8 overs.

The third batting pair for Bidford ran well between the wickets and moved the score onto 262, which would of been 266 if it wasn't for Olivier Blake's well deserved wicket with his very last ball.

With team seemingly destined to chasing a score of at least 280, Ed Clews set about the final batting pair with some quick and accurate bowling, during his first over one of the balls stuck wicket keeper Ryan Cave on the arm and forced him off the pitch for the duration the innings, Bidford very kindly allowed us to use a substitute player Nathan Owen, who's U11 fixture had been cancelled, With Ed Clews Nathan bowled well and took a good wicket to restricted the Bidford total to 269-4.

Having restricted the run chase to 270, Earlswood batters went about the task with great professionalism, a run out for the first pair halted progress slightly but still provided a solid base for the U13's big hitters Max Burke and Jamie Owen.

In typical "20/20" fashion Jamie and Max provided some entertaining hitting, and between them hit 5 fours n a pitch that was using adult boundaries this moved the score on nicely to 240-2.

The third pair of James Taylor and Olivier Blake batted and ran sensibly, this meant that final pair would only need to chase 18 runs for victory.

Ed and Ethan went out to bat with confidence, and this confidence was well founded as they added 36 runs off the bat to ensure a well deserved first victory in the U13 CHL pairs completion.
