Martyn Dennison hit the highest score in a junior match for Earlswood U17 against Hampton and Solihull in the Warwickshire U17 League.
Hampton turned up with 9 players and lost the toss on a hard pitch with a quick outfield. Joe McGovern decided to bat first and he and Martyn Dennison started the carnage from the first over. Bad balls were dispatched to the boundary, byes were racking up and the openers started at 10 an over and got better and better. After 10 overs they were on 167 for 0 which was a record opening stand, record any stand! Joe was eventually given out lbw to a ball that hit his thigh! Denno kept blasting away and accompanied by Arron Snipe, fresh from a hundred the previous day, Earls smashed their way past 200. In the end you had to feel sorry for Hampton. Denno scored his maiden hundred and ended on a record 133 not out and Arron was run out on the last ball for 52. Extras scored an amazing 62 and the total finished on 315-2.
Hampton were 45-5 after their 20 overs. A win by 270 runs.
