Hagley won the toss and unsurprisingly put Earls in. A steady start from skipper Alex Laud and Joe McGovern saw us to 28 off 9 before Alex (13) mis-timed a hook that bounced down and just about took a bail off. Wickets fell regularly after that and Man-of-the-Match Dan Giles caught and bowled top scorer Joe McGovern for 24. George Calkeld (17) and Daniel Empson (15*) provided stubborn resistance but Earls were eventually bowled out in the 47th over for 112.

Joe Bussey struck early in the first over but Giles played a very good innings finishing undefeated on 71 out of 114. Arron Snipe took the wicket of Stead with a catch taken low down by Kieran Avery at point. Dan Empson continued to show good promise with two wickets in three balls and decent figures of 2-12 off his five overs before Hagley got home in the 27th over.

A difficult day at the office but an opportunity for Alex to see some of the younger players in action out on the field. Next week sees the start of the Warwickshire League season with Leamington Spa the visitors to Watery Lane.
