Congratulations to our Anthony Collins Solicitors players of the match from the previous two weekends’ senior games.

4th June

With many players missing due to the first team captain organising his stag do for a Saturday in June (??????), Gary Maynard stepped up for the WCL 1s and batted excellently for his 60 not out to get Earls up to 196 on a tricky wicket. Gary then additionally took 1-9 with the ball, standing out individually in an excellent team performance as they secured a winning draw over Walmley.

The WCL 2s also faced Walmley on a bowler friendly wicket. Despite a narrow defeat, Seb Caldicott shone on his first WCL 2s appearance of the year, picking up an excellent 4-18 off his 9 over spell. Well-bowled Seb!

The WCL 3s had to battle for a losing draw against Standard, with the pick of the day's bowling coming through captain Steve Shale who picked up 2-43 off his spell, continuing his good form this season.

The CHL 1s had a similarly tough day at home to Norton Lindsay, but two players still managed to emerge with good individual performances. Mick Weir scored 48 with the bat and Bobby Banerjee took 3-17 with the ball. Both were excellent efforts in the context of the game.

CHL 2’s skipper Richard Jackson batted excellently in the side’s loss to WCCS, narrowly missing out on his 50 with 49 off 54 balls. Jacko’s innings included seven 4’s and one 6 and ensured the team picked up some batting points.

Returning skipper Alex Laud powered the WCL 1s to victory away at Corley with an unbeaten 92. The Earls chased down 170 in 34 overs thanks to some powerful shots from Laud, continuing his fantastic form this season.

The WCL 2s won a thriller against a very good Attock 3s side, thanks to multiple excellent performances. Two players were inseparable in deciding player of the match, and so both Sam Weir, who took 4-43 and scored 13*, and Sohaym Maddekar, who scored a brilliant 83, deserved recognition. Both young lads have stepped up in key moments for the side this year which is brilliant to see.

Youth came to the fore for the WCL 3s as well as Archy Lowe took a fantastic 3-25 with the ball in their victory over Bablake. Archy’s bowling has improved massively over the winter and it is brilliant to see his hard work being rewarded with senior team wickets. Well done Archy!

The CHL 1s rounded up the Earlswash in a brilliant win over Claverdon. The star of the show was Mo Younas who took an excellent 4-14 in his 5 over spell to help bowl Claverdon out for 185.

12th June

Harry Empson (sponsored by Elliot Weir) saw his run filled season continue with a brilliant 76 not out opening the batting for the Sunday 1st XI in their narrow defeat to Sutton Coldfield. His innings anchored the innings and provided his teammates with an opportunity to attack around him. Well done again Harry!
