Congratulations to our Anthony Collins Solicitors players of the match from the previous 2 weekends’ games.

14th May

This was a match to forget for the WCL 1s as they were comprehensively beaten by Kenilworth Wardens, but for the resilience of Callum Hassett who scored an excellent 35 to get us up to a total which we could bowl at. Callum’s batting has been very solid so far this year and always offers us a way to get out of tricky situations.

Again, despite a loss for the WCL 2s, Laura Smitten was able to shine with the bat with a brilliant 51 opening the batting in an opening stand of 88 against Kings Heath. Her innings was only cut short by a run out which was sure to have robbed her of many more runs as she was looking in fantastic form.

Armaan Badesha had an incredible start to the season for the WCL 3s in their 7 wicket win over RMCC. Armaan took 4-23 with the ball, but evidently wasn’t satisfied with that as he then went on to also score 54 with the bat. What an amazing effort!

Shaun Jenkins’ excellent start to the season continued in the CHL 1’s narrow defeat to Stratford Upon Avon. Shaun scored 30 not out with the bat, eventually running out of partners. He then opened the bowling, taking 1-21 off his 10 over spell.

15th May

Harry Empson showed signs of his huge improvements over the Winter with a magnificent 84 not out for the Sunday 1s in their comprehensive victory over a good Warwick side. Harry’s innings included 13 boundaries and the only thing stopping him getting very close to a hundred was reaching the opposition’s total! Fantastic work Harry.

21st May

The WCL 1s returned to form with a dominant winning draw over Four Oaks Saints led by a magnificent performance from Johangir Khan. J scored a wonderful 85 with the bat, followed by taking 3-14 off his 12 overs with the ball. A fantastic effort, especially given that he is still nursing an injury.

The WCL 2s had another tough day but it was a day which saw Colby Snipe return to form. Colby top scored with 41 with the bat, and followed it up with 3 wickets with the ball in the 3 wicket loss. It was great to see Colby back towards his best, which we are all sure we will see in the coming weeks.

Jacob Rock showed his class for the WCL 3rd XI this weekend with both bat and ball. Jacob took 4-18 off his 10 overs and followed up with 32 with the bat in a commanding 7 wicket win with over 25 overs to spare. A magnificent team performance, and one which showed just how good Jacob is, something we have never doubted and wish he believed more!

The CHL 1’s were unfortunately on the end of another narrow defeat despite the best efforts of Bobby Banerjee. Bobby scored a great 53 with the bat including some excellent shots, and also took 2-31 with the ball which we are sure will be the first of many 50’s for Bobby this year.

The CHL 2’s unbeaten start to the season continued with a thrashing of Alvechurch and Hopwood. Earlswood’s star of the show was Mo Younas, who took 5-5 off his 8 overs, figures which will be incredibly tough to better for anyone else in the club this year! An incredible spell of bowling by Mo, and we hope his good form continues!

22nd May

Holly Whitfield shone for the women’s 1st XI with an amazing 71 against an incredibly strong Dorridge side. Captaining the side, Holly led from the front and her brilliant innings contained 9 boundaries. Unfortunately the women came out on the wrong side of the result, but can be thoroughly proud of their efforts.

Sohaym Maddekar scored a wonderful 70 for the Sunday side in their narrow defeat to Sheldon. It was a nail biting finish, and the excellent platform Sohaym’s innings gave very nearly saw the side home.
