Congratulations to our Anthony Collins Solicitors players of the match from the previous 2 Saturdays’ games.

30th April

Beginning with the WCL 1st XI, Alex Laud scored 120* in their chase of 242-8 including 18 boundaries. Alex’s innings consisted of shots all around the wicket and was by far one of the best you will see at this level.

Earlswood newcomer Ben Cox shone in his first appearance of the season for the WCL 2s, scoring 95 and taking 1-35 opening the bowling as they defeated Olton by 138 runs. Not a bad debut!

In the WCL 3s Guy Massey got his and the team’s season off to a flyer as they secured a 16 point winning draw against Dorridge. Guy’s marvellous 106 included 22 boundaries and is hopefully a sign of many more runs to come this year.

Despite the CHL 1s friendly defeat against Warwickshire County Council Staff, Waseem Akram still managed to display his individual skill with a rapid fire 46 on his return for Earlswood - great to have you back Waseem!

7th May

In a game with very little to celebrate for the WCL 1s, Chief still managed to emerge with a good deal of credit with his 37 opening the batting that was only halted by a run-out when he was looking in top form. We’re hopeful he will pick up where he left off next week!

Ben Slade shone in the WCL2s defeat to Wishaw with both bat and ball. Sladey took 4-29 and followed it up with 48, being the shining light in both innings for Earlswood despite the loss. These were additionally Sladey’s best figures since joining Earlswood - a hugely promising sign for the season ahead.

Earlswood’s newest centurion was crowned in the CHL 1s this week, with Kieran Avery scoring a fantastic 103 against Shipston. Kieran’s batting has always shown signs that big runs were coming and we couldn’t be happier for him. His runs (and later brilliant bowling figures of 2-11) helped the team to a comfortable 111 run victory over Shipston to begin their league season.

The CHL2s victory over Southam was very much a fantastic team performance with everyone contributing in some way. The player of the match was voted as Steve Shale for his tight bowling spell, wrestling control back for Earlswood at a time when it looked as if Southam may comfortably reach 200, with his figures of 2-24 off 8 overs.
