Herefordshire lost by 12 runs to Staffordshire
Ian Hughes, Stuart Reeve, Steve Docker and Mick Weir are playing for Herefordshire this season and began with a home match at Brockhampton against Staffordshire. They elected to put the visitors in and it proved a good decision as wickets from Steve and Ian helped restrict Staffordshire to 169 off their 45 overs.
The reply started well with Reevo scoring 43 in an opening partnership of 62. However, wickets fell regularly from then on in and the home side collapsed to 155 all out with Neil Crump completing a good day personally adding to his 50 when batting with 5 wickets.
Next week the guys are at Barnt Green to play Worcestershire.

Warwickshire beat Worcestershire by 11 runs
Kevin Bissett and Neil Thorne played for Warwickshire at Leamington in the local derby against Worcestershire. Warwicks won the toss and to the relief of all the skipper put them in on a baking hot day. Four good partnerships saw the home side post 246-4 off their 45 overs with skipper Mike Daniels top scoring with 98 run out off the last ball.
The visitors got off to a flyer in reply and were going well when their first wicket fell at 61. Thorney got amongst the wickets removing the other opener well caught by Mohammed Altaf at mid-wicket. Worcester were never out of it though and Sean Cariney's 90 kept them interested. He was eventually dismissed by Chris Smith after a good catch on the long-on boundary by Steve Healey. Some sharp work behind the stumps by Kev removed dangerman Leo Moncreif and the innings then fizzled out. A good opening win that sets us up for the next match away at Oxfordshire next Thursday.
