After 3 great results last weekend the club is back with 4 sides playing this weekend.
The 1st XI (Sponsored by Corbally Group) take on Bronze CC in their first game at Watery Lane this season. Head of Cricket, Arron Snipe, was delighted with the performance last weekend led by a brilliant ton from Alex Laud). A great start despite the rain not allowing Earls to take the full 24 points. There is also a welcome return for quick bowler Dan Empson who is back after spending time training with the Leeds University side.
The 2nd XI Sponsored by St Philips Barristers) are looking to follow up last week’s convincing victory against Moseley with a trip to Moseley Ashfield to face their 2s. A slight reshuffle with Stuart Reeve and Louie Green unavailable sees Ben Slade added to bring some experience alongside young quick Isaac Rock, who is back after a long injury layoff. Skipper Dan Dixon will be happy to have held on to Isaac’s brother Jacob who was the star last week taking 5 wickets and then seeing the team home with the bat (15*).
Abhi Lal is in for his first 3rd XI outing of the season at Warwick County Council Staff CC as he looks to lead his side into their final friendly before the season starts. A side that is similar to the week before also sees the return of former Birmingham League stalwart Mick Weir, who opened his account for the season two weeks ago with a stylish 48. The side has looked extremely strong this season especially after Hassan Khan made a 73 for the club in only his second game.
The 4th XI (Sponsored by Ometis) are travelling to neighbours Claverdon for a friendly that sees some players getting their first games of the season. Mo Younas, Sid Davies, Mo Usman, Andy Earles and Sonny Gohel all come in for their first outings of the season. Neil will be especially happy to have secured the services of Paul Fitzgerald, who has returned to the club after a short hiatus. The classy batsman will add some experience to a side that is looking to bounce back after relegation.
Good luck to all and thanks to all our sponsors for their continued support.
