Congratulations to the below players who are the first intake for the Earlswood Cricket Club Academy!
The above players have all been invited to join the academy and have accepted. Sessions are being arranged and coaches and players are looking forward to getting started!
The invitation to the academy is extended on the basis of the following criteria, including being between the U16 and U12 age groups, not being specifically part of a County pathway in the discipline they will work on, and being new to, or not yet old enough to play senior cricket:
Engaged: Plays a part in improvement of the club – not just on the field, displaying a willingness to help with jobs needed at the club & ground, attend events and the club after games, and take initiative to assist where possible.
Capable: Sufficiently capable to play senior cricket and to perform at least one discipline as a key role, and nominated by selection committee/junior subcommittee.
Committed: Able to play senior cricket and commit to being available at least 65% of the season in 2024 (acknowledging the impact of school sport & exam commitments), willing to commit to an agreed level of focused coaching (at least twice per month), and commit to undertaking a coaching course at a relevant age
All of our players will be provided with a 3-year development plan at the end of this season, providing development milestones and goals for the future. All programmes will include an element of fielding and standards expected in senior cricket.
It's a really positive step for the club that we are in a position to be able to provide this specialist one-to-one coaching for our young players and we are very much looking forward to tracking their development in both junior and senior cricket over the coming years. Please congratulate the players when you next see them.
